Sunday: porch cleaning
May. 21st, 2023 01:22 pmI vacuumed the porch, and the chairs and bench (and a good chunk of the wall behind the bench). I also cleaned the table. I have not yet done the cot; that’s a job all by itself and I was tired. (ETA: Done!)
I’m thinking of putting some hanging hardware for drapes out there because at certain times of the year, there’s really stabby sunlight that comes through the screened porch and into the kitchen making it incredibly hard to use the kitchen sink (this is why I hate a window by the kitchen sink). I discussed it with R., who raised some valid concerns about wind, but I think they are manageable (and so does he). There’s also one section that the drapes I am imagining won’t adequately cope with, but I think a roller blind mounted sideways might work well. I’ll be poking around later to figure out what I want.
Also! Late last night I spent a bunch of time researching things to do near North Adams / Williamstown, and remembered that North Adams is really not far at all from Bennington, so I added that to the list. I’m pretty excited to go to places I enjoyed a couple decades ago, and haven’t been to since, especially now that A. has at least some interest in going to museums after her field trip to Peabody Essex Museum.
I’m heading out for a walk shortly. Part of this was so that my walking partner and I could have an in person visit, which we have not done since A. came home sick from school. We’ve been walking when the weather cooperated, but I don’t want to give this cold to M.’s family due to other family members’ medical issues. However, with the porch de-pollened, an outdoor visit when it’s high 60s, sunny, not too windy — well, that just sounds very pleasant and super, super unlikely to move a cold along to M.
ETA: R. cooked the ribs, so I got to have ribs for lunch. Mmmmm.
