Sunday: a couple walks, bread
Mar. 5th, 2023 06:56 pmI set up some 100% unbolted Turkey Red last night with some sourdough starter (mostly soft red). It wasn’t really fully expanded this morning, but by early afternoon, it was looking pretty good, so I baked it. I did remember to slash it this time. Progress! It turned out well, altho short and dense, but I understand that’s just how this works now. A. tried it, decided it was a little bland, but would be fine for a grilled cheese, so I made her a grilled cheese with it. Between the cheese and the salted butter, it disappeared quickly. Woot!
I used the last of the Izzy’s to make bread pudding.
I had root veg with bacon fat for dinner again.
R. cooked some chicken thighs; I had one of those with the last of the salad and some of the microgreens for lunch.
I don’t know if I mentioned making 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies the other day, but I did. I ate 6 of them (too many! As it turns out) right after they cooled somewhat. With brown sugar, these really are Perfect. I had another one today. A. and R. have each had some. There are two left, out of I want to say 15 cookies. I’m gonna make them again when the last two are gone, but maybe add chocolate chips to a couple of them and see how that goes. My excuse is that I do need to get through the whole peanuts I bought. Right?
I did the 1 mile loop by myself twice.
I chatted (separately, because she was busy while I was walking) with my sister briefly.
T. worked 10ish to 5ish, but did Family Zoom. MIL and her sister showed up, and also R.’s sister A. Apparently, MIL has finally discontinued some medications that may have contributed to her fall, and which she probably should not have been taking anyway. I’m kind of impressed that my BIL convinced her to do this. That was a major accomplishment.
Dinner last night at Woods Hill Table with the B. family was fantastic. I mean, it’s always good there, but really fun to share it with them.
