Hopefully, we will continue to make things better for all workers.
I apparently haven’t blogged in a couple days, so I will do some catching up.
Today I made waffles, because we are out of waffles. I ate waffles. I put leftover strawberry syrup from the refrigerator not really strawberry jam I made earlier this year. Mmmm. It’s after 1 and I am still not hungry, and that was a few hours ago, so while I may have eaten a few too much waffles, the good news is it is whole grain, and full of filling fiber so I’m not hungry and probably won’t be for a while.
Also, feeling very energetic, I decluttered the storage space under the altar. I found some swim towels down there, and put them where we now keep the swim towels. I found some goggles down there, and threw away one which had a completely deteriorated strap. I put the swim caps in a placed where I might actually look for them when I might want a swim cap. And I put the pink and purple goggles where A. can try them on. I had T. try on a couple that might work for him, and one did and the other didn’t. Since he had lost his previous goggles, this worked out perfectly.
While I had his attention, we went through his drawer in the altar, and found a pair of sunglasses that he had been looking for. We also put some Verge ribbons into the memory box, and also his corn cob pipe from a costume in elementary school. We put an unopened Happy Meal Toy (National Geographic card and whale stuffie) into the donate box, and we put some other Happy Meal Toy into the trash.
I also went through the left hand front hall closet, I moved all the hats and scarves up to A.’s and my rooms. I moved a bunch of bags up as well, and A. and I decided to throw one very damaged one away (handle coming off, pilling — and it was made from recycled PET bottles anyway). I put the somewhat iffy purple umbrella into my previous car, as I had moved the good purple umbrella into my new car. Also, we moved A.’s super cool, personalized, Disney parasol up to her closet, since it is now very orderly, accessible, and she is putting together all kinds of fun Looks.
I vacuumed the kitchen and the front hall. I helped T. get some lunch (reheated the last of the chicken tenders and air fryered some french fries for him in the countertop oven, and cup up apple and carrot for him).
I did _not_ attempt to do anything that required sustained ability to think. But I did help A. get through her homework, after her computer screen decided to just not work for her anymore. R. spent some time on it; it is new and under warranty so he’ll probably get it resolved that way because none of the easy stuff is working or any of the more complicated things, for that matter. That did mean I wound up downloading google classroom onto my iPad again. Oh well!
Also, laundry is in progress. I am hoping to get to sheets, but am not sure that will happen. And I’m thawing more chicken tenders for the kids.
ETA: sheets are happening. A. commented that peanuts don’t taste as good as peanut butter. We discussed that and some related concepts for a bit, and then we got out the bag of peanuts from Nuts.com that I bought last May. We processored them stopping at various points to taste and see what it looked like. I added a very small amount of small (very, very small). Once we got down to somewhat grainy but otherwise peanut butter like (I also added a little bit of avocado oil), I eyeballed the peanut volume, added a roughly comparable amount of white sugar, and an egg, processored it a bit more, and then made those three ingredient peanut butter cookies that Dylan Hollis amplified a while back.
They are yum.
I also have some pizza dough doing its thing in a bowl. When the oven cools down a bit more, I’ll made the crust and rise it in the countertop oven.
It’s raining, so I don’t think I’m getting a walk today, which is fine, because I’ve been getting a lot of walks lately and a day off probably would be fine. It is M.’s bday, so I handed her some cash and sang Happy Birthday to her when she came over for a visit. R. is practicing the Happy Birthday song, but it isn’t there enough to sing along with yet.
I listened to podcasts after the kids went to bed. Odd Lots had a really interesting one about China’s economy, and their efforts to deflate a very real problem with real estate. The New Warehouse had a couple really good ones, one about U Turn Transport. You can read about them at the Chicago Sun-Times here:

There is some paywall going on ; I was able to access this article using reader view.
The other interesting The New Warehouse podcast was about marijuana and logistics. There’s a _lot_ going on there, and that is a business environment that requires a ton of compliance awareness in _many_ different jurisdictions.
