Saturday: from Scranton home
Apr. 23rd, 2022 05:30 pmSince the pool at the Scranton Residence Inn is non-functional, it was easy to decide to leave reasonably early in the morning. T. got breakfast downstairs; I made breakfast upstairs for A. and I. R. and I got coffee downstairs on the way out the door. We got everything packed back up again (yay, all the food very cold again!). We stopped for gas and Dunkin Donuts and the loo, and then continued on to Manchester CT where we had lunch and R. and I had two flights at Elicit Brewing. _Beautiful_ old brick mill building. Lovely interior. Super nice staff. Excellent beer. T. said his cheese pizza was excellent. A. liked her cheeseburger sliders and waffle fries (we had some of the waffle fries; they were really good). R.’s fried chicken sandwich was really, really good. I had three tacos — the tuna poke, the crunchy avo, and the jackfruit. They were all amazing. I have never had battered and fried avocado, and this was a fine new experience. Altho I think my fave was the poke, followed by the jackfruit. We got beignets, which did not impress the kids but I had one and a half despite the certainty of dairy products. The stack of pretzels was kinda bonkers but tasty and fun. I will be monitoring their live music choices to think about driving out to see a band and drink more beer. We brought some home in cans.
We got home. I walked with M. I’m doing laundry. We are mostly unpacked. Really nice trip, altho could do without the two terrifying injuries.
