We did the Escape from Alcatraz room at All In Adventures / mysteryroom in Roanoke. It is in a mall space near the empty Sears at Valley View Mall. It is a single room, and the walls defining the rooms have no ceilings. This is a benefit, in that the space does not overheat; there are obviously thematic implications, which are comparatively minor when judged against the contents of the room. It’s basically a _lot_ of combination locks, a small number of minor props, and pictures on the walls. All that said, it was a good array of puzzles, and we got through it in under a half hour, leaving plenty of time for the bonus round / master level, which had a moderately novel prop/puzzle component. Pricing was reasonable ($26.xx / person) and plenty of space / stuff to do to entertain the 8 of us. It was raining, so R. couldn’t ride his bike anyway.
Wasena City Taproom was great — not a brewery, lots of options on tap. Food ordered included beans and rice, onion rings, burgers, fries, chips, salsa, salad, fish, chicken quesadilla — everything was good. Coffee was hot and good. Would totally recommend and happily return.
Book group (_The Hidden Life of Trees_) was enjoyable, altho we were missing one member who canceled due to a health issue. Not sure what is going on there, but will check in with her again in a few days. We do need to pick a book for June at some point. I may push for _Girly Drinks_.
