Monday: half day
Nov. 29th, 2021 07:24 pmThe jr hi school adjusted the bell schedule. The 4 minute passing periods are now 3 minutes, and 7th and 8th graders have separate passing times and slightly different arrival / departure times. Basically, A. gets out 3 minutes early. Interestingly, she likes the new schedule much better even tho the passing times are shorter because she no longer feels like she gets stuck behind slow people in the halls. So that’s something.
She had a lot of homework. I’m back to trying to get her through all of it again, especially since we got her mostly caught up over the break, and it was a mistake. She was working on it — with breaks — until after 6 pm, and she started relatively soon after arriving home a little before 1:30. *Sigh*
T. was with the babysitter; he did not see her last week at all because T-weekend started early when her new grandbaby arrived in town along with S / DIL.
A cousin once removed reached out for some help, so we are working on that; I got a check out today (someone asked for help far enough in advance that mailing a check is enough! Progress! This wait until the last minute use apps to transfer thing is kinda annoying, altho once you identify a mechanism, it’s fine too).
I put the mantel swag up. I recycled some cards, and tucked the rest over by the albums to be put away properly Later. Hopefully soon, but, whatever.
I also got the Dickens lego out and put the bits that had fallen off back on, and put that onto the altar with the brickheads, the truck, and the Christmas Penguin. I didn’t do Santa’s Sleigh yet, much less Visit from Santa. Things to look forward to! I think I am _not_ getting the arendelle advent castle out this year; the kids are having fun with the lego friends and lego star wars advent.

I went through the leftovers and made a turkey cacciatore sorta. That cleared out the leftover mushrooms, turkey, chicken stock, cabbage-not-in-the-cole-slaw, red sauce. That was lunch (and more leftovers for tomorrow), but that presented me with a dinner conundrum. I got some ground beef and a steak out of the freezer. I don’t think there are any hamburger buns, but we had a couple costco torta rolls. Also, we have sweet potatoes, so we had sweet potato fries. Today’s bottle of wine was sparkling, so, NO. Tomorrow’s was also a white wine, so I went two days ahead and got a Sicilian red that was really tasty (organic, and an unfamiliar varietal Nero D’Avolo; would totally do this one again). Villarini. It’s gone. Oh well!
We were going to be discussing _The Lemon Tree_, however, we postponed to tomorrow to accommodate a longer T-weekend on the part of one member.
