Saturday: martial arts, Vic’s, Free Guy
Sep. 18th, 2021 11:00 pmI took T. to martial arts. I actually remembered to stop and get cash, which is good, because I had not had cash the previous week to pay.
We had breakfast at Vic’s. I hadn’t bothered to eat anything before leaving the house, because I had waaayyyyy too much to eat the night before, what with the outing to Crossroads Cafe, followed by making brownies and eating them with Ben and Jerry’s Tonight Dough (non-dairy version).
T. and I saw Free Guy in the evening. It was really fun! Shang-Chi is a better movie, but Free Guy did NOT disappoint at all. It’s weird how movies based on specific video games that are actually real games kinda suck almost universally, but movies which have the idea of a video game (the two recent Jumanji movies, the Wreck-It Ralph movies, Free Guy) as the Bit can often be really wonderful.
Last night at Fancy Friday, we were discussing how many languages there are available in Duolingo and how much effort might be involved in doing the first few lessons in all of them. In the course of poking around at things, I accidentally added Russian to my list of courses, and then couldn’t figure out how to undo it, so I thought, okay, let’s see how hard a different alphabet is (I’d done Greek outside of Duo years ago, but mostly forgotten it). Answer: not easy! But the lessons in the Learn the Alphabet tab are pretty fun, so I’ll keep at it and see how it goes.
