Tuesday: walks, an exhausting day, song

I did the long walk by myself.
I got extremely cranky. I probably got a little too warm, and my allergies have definitely kicked back up. School presented a variety of challenges. PE involved a video with a bunch of toss a ball in the air, clap your hands, catch ball, only with escalating complexity (toss over your head and catch behind your back, toss and tap your opposite heel and catch, etc.), all of which was outside of any kind of envelope of possibility for A. I downgraded the complexity to get it within her range and broke it down so she could do parts of it, but it took a lot out of me. Then math involves coins, fractions, percentages and decimals, and A. has totally forgotten what coins exist and what their values are. Coins were something I’d more or less removed from my life _before_ the pandemic, and then, you know, no one wanted coins. So that was a thing. And then I got yet another nag about the strips that A. was supposed to create for some teacher appreciation project, so I wanted to get her to do that. And R. was just not around all day. Again.
Anyway. He took her out to McDonald’s and dropped off the completed strips and they went to the arboretum so she got a walk that wasn’t too hot, and where she could have him identify plants for her, which she really likes doing. He got some nice pictures, so that’s good. I got some time alone, and that was definitely necessary.
One of R.’s friends on FB asked if you were going to write a song, what would it be about, and R. and I had been bouncing back and forth stuff about the rollover incident from the mid-90s trip to Whistler. I got to thinking about it and put together a chorus, some verses, then recorded a draft as a voice memo, and finally put my phone down so the camera was covered and recovered it as a no video video and posted it to my own FB feed. It was fun — I’ve never created and recorded something that complicated (NOT very complicated!).
