Wednesday: walks, rain, _Binding Shadows_
May. 26th, 2021 08:12 pmI read Jasmine Silvera’s _Binding Shadows_ last night. I loved it! I loved that Tobias and Barbara both read and enjoyed _Darker Than You Think_ (and based on the description, I bought _Dragon’s Island_, because it sounds like a hoot, albeit highly likely to annoy on several levels. Worth a risk, tho! I’d never heard of tribonacci (<— not a typo!) numbers, had no idea that (this part was not in the book) there was a recent public key encryption system involving them. I’m not sure if I should go read the previous trilogy, or wait for the next in this one. Decisions! I will likely go back through my acquired-but-not-read options instead.
I bought _Remote, Inc._ today and am reading it. It is OK. I mean, it is a business book, and they tend to be written for an audience that is going to skim at best. It’s easy to forget to read quickly, and then want to quibble about some of the details, which is of course missing the point. I think it serves? Has been serving? Could serve? A very useful purpose, and I’m glad it is getting referenced in articles about hybrid work as offices reopen and more experimentation ensues. I’m seeing statistics in articles now saying that companies who survey their employees are getting 30% I’ll Get A Different Job If You Make Me Come Back 5 Days a Week Now. That’s a thing, for sure.
I walked with M.
I did the long walk by myself. I was trying to avoid the heat by waiting, but R. said better go before the rain. Inevitably, the rain started when I was as far away as I get on my 3 mile loop. Oh well!
