Saturday: crappy weather cleared up
Jan. 16th, 2021 11:00 pmI got both walks! Astonishing! I really thought it would not work, but it cleared up. Delightful!
SPOILERS AHEAD!
I finished _Blood Heir_. It was somewhat different from Ilona Andrews other books. There are a lot of parallels between what Aurelia / Julie / Julia goes through and what Kate went through in the main series. Aurelia, of course, has way more support (even with the limitations imposed on her by the prophecy), and her understanding of the world is a lot more accurate than Kate’s was at a comparable age. The conversation between Derek / Darren (ha ha ha!) and Julie / Aurelia is _outstanding_. It is a Big Miss, but it is handled perfectly. It helps that Aurelia / Julie had already dealt with the Big Miss associated with Derek / Darren’s ambiguous presence in Atlanta earlier (twice — once with Nick and then later in the Shapeshifter standoff outside her house).
The mushroom pirogi vendor is _particularly_ hilarious, as are the implications of the initial meeting between the Witch Oracle and Aurelia at Saiman’s Stele. So. Much.
I totally do NOT trust Sienna! Eager to find out what comes next, know I have to wait, totally okay with that because I also want the next every other series book, too.
I watched Hannah Gadsby’s _Douglas_ (I have not seen Nanette). That was pretty awesome! I particularly loved the setting expectations part. The summary I had of this going into it was not at all what my experience of it was, and I am a little puzzled by how the person who recommended it to me completely buried the lede. But that is fine! I loved every bit of it.
