After Fancy Friday, R., H., and I (H. bailed pretty early; I quit around midnight my time) watched some of the Seattle Black Film Festival. The beginning was a great 9 person zoom with people whose films were in the festival / associated with Langston Hughes. Really great to listen to their perspectives on This Moment in time and film making — C19 was part of that, but also the protests and how that has led to an unusual (hopefully will continue!) amount of attention being paid to Black creations. Nice discussion of how to figure out distributing films, and also getting funding for elements of the process.
The films themselves were uniformly great, with a wide range of topics, genre and emotional impact. Our Troll was delightful.
I loved doing a watch party! I had no idea that I would love that so much compared to trying to watch anything by myself. R. and I are going to try to do this (with different stuff to watch) again soon.
