It was a busy day! We stayed in the hotel room until checkout time or nearly. The kids got to do almost all of their school zoom (they did yesterday’s school zoom at the airport — we got there early so they would be seated at the gate for them) — T. had to leave a trivia game a little bit before it was done.

Breakfast was complimentary, but not the usual buffet — they had brown bags with a pastry or a bagel and you could ask for toppings like PB and J and whatever. That is all I ever have anyway, so that was fine; the kids missed getting a waffle but that is okay.

We had lunch at Vic’s on the River. We went through the restaurant, including an elevator, which felt dangerous and exciting in a way that elevators never used to feel. We sat on the patio outdoors. The tables were a little closer together than made me happy, but the trees are beautiful and there was a breeze. Service and food were excellent. I had several sides; the collards were particularly awesome, and the asparagus, fries and salad were also good.

There is a wonderful memorial along the waterfront that was rededicated with a new plaque a year or so ago.

A. and I also looked at the Cluskey vaults:

After lunch, we drove to Hilton Head.

R. took T. to get shorts. They were successful at Belk’s. This took a while, however, and so dinner became important and we did not yet have groceries. I tried to get A. and me something at Tide Me Over, but selection was very limited, and she did not like the cheeseburger she got (altho I put it in the fridge for later).

R. found a plausible choice with patio dining and menu options that would work for all of us. We were not anticipating anything great from World of Beer, but it was awesome. Good cocktails, good beer, great food, wonderful service, lots of space on the patio. We will return!

After that, I went to get groceries at a Kroger’s.
