Yesterday was a teacher planning day, so A. and I treated it as the first day of a 4 day weekend (Monday is Patriots Day). By the end of a day watching a movie, and a lot of TV shows on Netflix, she was floppy, cranky, and wanted my attention, which I wanted to direct to my Friday Zoom cocktail or whatever hour. Oh well!

Today, I gave some thought to what to do to create a better outcome in the evening. So I pulled her out of her room for breakfast, and then gave her some time to watch more TV. After tooth brushing and hair braiding, I had her work on Boom Learning, which the speech special ed people are using with both my children. She did floppy cranky for a bit, and I said that is fine, take all the time we need, we are not going to do anything else until this is done. The content of what she is working on seems completely useful; a mix of perspective taking and etiquette.

I wish I had had her do the two assigned decks in the reverse order; the second one was way easier than the first. We were not sure whether she was supposed to aim for mastery, just go through it one time, go through it enough to get the green check mark, or what. So she got mastery on the easy one, and the check mark on the harder one and I decided that was enough.

Next up (after my walk), I am going to have her redo the lessons that Khan Academy indicates she should practice more on.

By the time dinner is over, she should be entirely relieved to be done with lessons, and interested only in watching TV, which I will have pre-empted enough that she will not be sick of that yet.

It snowed this morning. I am planning on walking, but not until R. gets back from the hardware store.

ETA: Khan Academy sort of happened. She was a lot more enthusiastic about TypeTastic and spent an hour on it. Then she decided she had been sitting too long, walked around the downstairs, then started doing Just Dance. This is Acceptable.

I got three beds stripped, sheets cleaned (switched some flannel for cotton) and beds remade with an assist from R. We sent him off to the West Side Creamery to do curbside pickup of an ice cream order. I think the kids like that vanilla a bit better than the Microcreamery in Hudson, but the vegan chocolate from West Side is not as good as the chocolate avocado from the Microcreamery. This is an interesting tradeoff.

I got some pictures that I had to take down as part of the treadmill move back up on the wall in new locations. There are still some that have not found new homes yet. I cooked the brussel sprouts, the curly kale and the collard greens (for eating later). I also converted the second halves of two small heads of cabbage (one green, one purple) into cole slaw. The vegetable drawer is no longer overflowing, and the main shelves of the fridge now have recognizable, oh, I could eat that, options.
