R. debugged the broken wine fridge, went to Needham to an electronics shop, bought a replacement transformer, installed it in the broken wine fridge and now the broken wine fridge is not broken any more. Yay! Impressive accomplishment!! Very happy not to throw away the wine fridge. So, it was cheap, and he had to drive a half hour each way to Needham, so this is not a cost effective thing (especially if you factor in how much he gets paid hourly at his job). BUT he enjoyed the process, and we both value not throwing the thing away. The part cost about $6, and he also picked up some lead free solder.
This is really cool. He has now repaired the vacuum cleaner attachment, the dryer, and the wine fridge. 3 appliances diverted from landfill.
To celebrate, we ordered new furniture from Circle Furniture: we ordered some bar stools to replace the ones we currently have. We COULD reupholster them, however, R. hates these bar stools more than you could readily imagine. So we will donate them to Household Goods, where they will hopefully make someone else happy, and we will have new barstools, that hopefully he will note hate.
A. was bored, so we are watching The Empire Strikes Back. She is a little confused about the whole bounty hunter wanting Han vs. Darth wanting Luke thing, plus Darth picking up Leis and Chewie as well (as a goal, not as a reality). Even tho we watched Episode IV recently she has no recollection of Jabba etc., oh well. We will rewatch at some point it is fine.
I warned her that Empire ends on an unpleasant cliffhanger and she is planning on watching Return with me this weekend. Alternative boredom reducing activities include: listening to the Jim Dale read audiobooks of the Harry Potter series on Audible using the Alexa speakers, watching Harry Potter movies. Those are also interesting to her, but she picked Empire. At some point, I need to inflict ST:TNG on her.
