Monday: walk with M., catching up on TV
Jan. 13th, 2020 10:12 pmR. slept in, because he was feeling sick, so I got to drop off and pick up both kids today. *sigh* Whatever.
I have leftover pickle juice from homemade pickles (which I make basically when a cucumber comes in a Sunbasket box). I had been trying to figure out what to do (other than get another cucumber and make more pickles because they are tasty in sandwiches) and read a bunch of ideas. It occurred to me that at least my pickle juice is basically the base for a sweet and sour sauce. Since I wanted some sweet and sour orange sauce to finish off some frozen chicken bits (trader joes mandarin chicken, but sauce packets long gone), I pulled some zest off of an orange and heated it up in the pickle juice, and used that as the sauce. Turned out really pretty good, even tho I totally forgot to put corn starch in. Maybe next time!
Since it looks like NCIS did not kill over Ziva again, I watched the 4 episodes with her in it that I had been saving up to see how the arc turned out.
Both kids went to school. T. went with the sitter to the dentist after. Finally. I rescheduled that appointment four or more times, starting in September. Geez.
