We got out of Efteling before 11. It was nice to have a small cooler bag to pack up the remaining groceries, since we would have a kitchen at Koudum. I even managed to freeze a little ice in the tiny freezer compartment so it would stay cool.
I rode in the back, because A. kicked up such a fuss about having to share the back seat with luggage. It was not too bad. T. was right that my small roller bag made a good armrest. But the back seat of a C class has that annoying tilt you towards the center thing going on that I hated in the Tesla. Why do they do that anyway?
We visited A. briefly in Heerenveen, since we would not be able to check in until much later anyway. She had little goodie bags for the kids with Frys flags on pens and those rubber bracelets and they liked them. It was great to see her and she was in good spirits. I did not offer to take her to Ameland this trip — it seemed like it would take more energy than she had — but I did suggest a lunch outing and she liked that idea. She suggested a Chinese buffet that her son had taken her to. I said I would look around and figure something out.
We checked into De Kuilart, but were a little too late to pick up the bikes. We did get to the grocery store, and I probably bought too much food, because they had bao with chicken satay and some other things in prepared foods that looked interesting. Oh well! I did find some zuikerbrood, so I was happy.
