Sunday: track, missing shoes, baseball
Jun. 2nd, 2019 11:00 pmI took T. to the track meet in Lexington. He wore his Rockports and forgot his running shoes. I dropped him off, insisted he take his phone with him, and then went back for the shoes. I tried to get R. to bring them down saving 25 minutes of one trip, but he did not answer the phone. Fortunately, it was Sunday morning so it was not like there was any traffic to speak of.
R. took T. to baseball.
M. came for a visit.
I walked later with her father, also M. While we were walking, we saw M. from Julie’s Place drive by and honk and wave at us. He is always very friendly. My walking partner’s father did not initially recognize him but did after I explained who he was. Day of M!
I ran errands: I got cash, went to Colonial Spirits, Trader Joe’s. The bananas from last week were too soft so I made banana bread with the soft red (yeah, you read that right) wheat. Super delicate but also pretty in color and tasty as well.
At Colonial Spirits, I bought Pallini Peachcello (on clearance for $9.99, I should probably go back and see if there is any more) and a box of Crown Royal Peach (“Limited Edition” Come on, who are we kidding here). The Crown Peach bag is not purple, it is ... peach. Of course it is. I bought these because R. showed me a Pearls Before Swine strip from November 2017 about making a cake in the shape of a Certain Person, and using the flavors peach and mint. I thought, aha! I sense some drink invention possibilities. Since stone fruits do not appear to be in season around here or anyone shipping stuff to here at the moment, I figured I needed liqueurs for the peach flavor (or in the case of the Crown, a flavored whisky. I do not actually love flavored vodka, so none of that for me please). I will try to get the photographs of the brunch drink and the smash up on Flickr, and then link them here if I remember. I will definitely make sure they land in the drinks section of my cookbook, and have some further ideas for more variants. Here is the link for the comic strip:

I listened to most of the first 4 episodes of The Shrink Next Door. Possibly not the best choice right before falling asleep.
