I took T. to martial arts. He could not find his purple belt. Oops! I looked in the usual spot, shrugged, did not have time for a full search and it might not have been in the house if we left it at the dojo. Rather than compound missing belt with lateness, we departed. I told T. he had to apologize for not having his belt and ask politely if anyone had found it. Obviously, this was an incredibly ridiculous set of instructions; no one has ever taught T. how to apologize, much less in this context, so he did everything ... not apology like. I said, okay, here is a better way. I did the bow. I did the fist in other hand with the bow. I said nice words: We are very sorry Renshi D., but we cannot find T.’s belt and are hoping it is here, otherwise, we will look again this week and hopefully find it for next week. Or words pretty close to that. This got a chuckle from both instructors. No one had the belt. T. later found it in his room. I do need to remember to teach him how to apologize in various context. We have done this a little, but really only the words and we have not gotten into the physical space (do not crowd the person you are apologizing to! That is aggressive. Also, do not touch them) and other nonverbal issues.

We had second breakfast at Vic’s. That was nice.

He went to yoga later with R.

I got a couple walks. My replacement air pods arrived with the wireless charging case. I had given my original air pods to T. after he had lost one of his, but I had about a month with no air pods and I cannot tell you how much I missed them.
