Dead Horse Point State Park, McDonald's
Apr. 17th, 2019 11:00 pmA. was really hard to get up. I finally just put clothes on her, did her hair and let her rest until it was time to go a little after 8 a.m. I packed up snacks and her breakfast. We caravanned, because R. was planning on riding his bike in the afternoon.
We drove to Dead Horse Point State Park. We went to the Visitor Center and bought souvenirs, jerky, passport stickers and did stamps, watched the movie and did the nature path.
We drove to the main point, and looked around a bit. Then R. handed T. off to us and we split up.
The kids and I stopped at McDonald’s in Moab for lunch. We also ate a couple cookie from ABC (alternative baking company) that R. bought me at Moonflower. Yummy!
I tried to convince R.’s family that Canyonlands would be fun. I do not think I am succeeding. C. does not want to be in a car for more than 45 minutes in a row. R. does not want to spend more than an hour a day in a car. Unclear what K. has in the way of constraints. No one made any alternate plans for the day, despite copious opportunities. R. wants a 2-3 mile hike with no footing problems, basically a brisk walk for an hour. Which I set up for her two days ago and she decided to hang with A. and me instead, probably because she was tired from the horse.
Eventually, my sister and I put together a plan that involved a quarter hour at a time schedule for tomorrow with flexibility in terms of where to stop to each a picnic lunch. Here's hoping that works out.
