In today’s Smart Home Update. . . .
I ran Eufy in the upstairs hall and both upstairs bathrooms. I also ran Roomba downstairs. Then I noticed that last night’s efforts to normalize names of plugs / lights had undone itself. Hmmm. I called R. to confirm he had not, in a fit of madness or pique, reversed them (nope) and I had not dreamed / hallucinated the naming convention exercise (also, nope). So I went into Alexa and fixed them there, then I went into Wemo and fixed them there and then went into Hue and fixed them there.
We’ll see if this works. R. has set up HomeKit, so it is possible that Bad Things Could Rise Zombie Like From Their Graves. Then I would probably have to research what the underlying hierarchy is. Probably, tho, no one really knows anyway, and the fix (if it continues to be a problem) is to zap everything and redo it all from scratch (heavy sigh, but believe me when I say, having done major data structure changes in code that an actual business relies on to work 24x7, this is a pretty minor project).
We’ve settled on a naming convention for “floor” instead of “pole”, and “light” instead of “lamp”. It was a pretty fully populated mix before, which was incredibly confusing.
