This is our one full day in Sarasota. We had breakfast at the hotel. T. tried the hotel breakfast included. I had some raisin challah with peanut butter and a side of coleslaw. A breakfast only I could love, but I do love it. I really missed coleslaw on the boat. I had it at Cookie’s on Castaway Cay and it was seriously disappointing.
We had lunch at Keke’s, which is a great chain breakfast and lunch restaurant, with a relatively new branch in Sarasota. It was very comfortable and clean. Good food. Good iced tea. I had the oriental chicken salad, and the home fries from R.’s omelet.
We had dinner at Gecko’s, the one nearer the highway, next to the Applebee’s where we ate yesterday. I had the Fusion Bowl, very similar to the Power Bowl at Splitsville: rice, with stir fried veg on top. I skipped the meat / fish / shellfish option. I also had a perfect rye manhattan with a twist and it was excellent. T. had the burger; A. had the chicken thumbs. I would _happily_ return to either of these restaurants.
Before lunch, we walked on the beach with G. He has been doing this for over 20 years.
It was a very pleasant day. R. spent about an hour with G. collecting genealogical information between the walk and lunch, and then we all basically took it very easy in the afternoon. It was pretty close to a perfect recovery day. A. discovered the Food Network and is enjoying watching the kids baking competition.
ETA: My sister is hanging at home, stripping and making beds, and recovering from the trip. I’m in Sarasota, recovering from the cruise. I _think_ I have the better deal, but I’m not totally certain.
