I picked up a friend from Seattle at the Lincoln train station. R. took A. to school, because traffic was a disaster and those became incompatible tasks. We went to the De Cordova sculpture museum which was a pleasant enough museum and it turns out the friend from Seattle is a spectacularly good person to visit a museum with. She volunteers at museums, so super knowledgeable and has been doing this long enough she does not have any ideas about reading every single damn thing. But also, she has a great sense of humor, and really does actually interact on an emotional level with the art. Fun! So many people are so I Must Culture that they miss out on the visceral punch of some of what they are seeing, which always seems like such a pity (the approach taken by many museums doesn't help, either!).
We had lunch at NYAJ after. And I gave her the nickel tour of the house. She has an incredible memory, and remembered the entire family structure as I was pointing out people in the family pictures. I think she might be the first person I've ever met who could do that. Skills!
I picked up A. I was pretty tired, but M. came over for a visit, which was nice.
