Best quote: "authorities say they are reexamining the crossbow situation".

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2018/09/05/south-carolina-police-allege-murder-it-was-the-wife-in-the-foyer-with-the-eye-drops/

Short form: guy dies, looks like he fell down the stairs, funeral everyone sad, then autopsy results come back and wife is charged with using ingredient in visine to poison him. The crossbow thing is a previous incident in which he was sleeping and she shot him in the head with a crossbow "by accident". As one does.

"Lana Clayton did tell authorities her husband was mentally abusive and had “mood swings,” according to the paper." That was before he died, in the coverage from the crossbow incident, apparently.

Not sure what lessons to take from this, other than if you stumble across a stockpile of visine in the house, don't eat or drink anything until you find out what the hell is going on.

Beyond that, I suppose we'll have to wait and see if there are further details forthcoming. It sounds like there was a pretty solid indication that the wife was not happy with the relationship; I would think that if that popped up as a result of being shot in the head, one should probably take it seriously. OTOH, who knows what judgment or faculties might be impaired by being shot in the head with a crossbow.

I decided since the big thick thing arrived in the mail, I should probably enter it into TurboTax, along with a couple other forms I hadn’t entered before I quit last spring. I think I am still waiting for one more document, altho it is possible I am waiting for two. I’m way ahead of where I usually am at this time of year, so that’s good.

T.’s first day of school. He also started his swim lessons today after the summer off. And he also restarted gymnastics lessons after the summer off. He was going to not have gymnastics because of a pre-existing physical therapy appointment, however, they canceled, and they did it early enough in the day I was able to contact Planet Gymnastics and it all worked out. They are amazing people over there!

Because things were going pretty well and, more importantly, because it was about 90 degrees when it was time to go get A. from school, I decided to drive in about a half hour early and go over to the admin building. I got to look at the indoor play structure we donated to them when we got our dining room back, in its new home, and hear that it is indeed working out as planned. Wonderful! I also ran into B., and handed her the little baggie of police station related PlayMobil bits that have been sitting around waiting to catch up with the playset they go to for the last several months. After a brief convo with J., it sounds like I should bring in the remaining play structure bits. I’ll try to do that tomorrow or Friday.

Oh, and apparently B.’s daughter A. and T. have reconnected at LMS! Funny how small a world it is! And wonderful how kind everyone in Littleton is.

When you are wondering if you vote counts:

https://elections.ap.org/wburfm/election_results/2018-09-04/state/MA/race/D/raceid/22011

The odds are that this primary will ultimately decide who replaces (so sad!) Tsongas. And the distance between the top 2 vote-getters was 52. So. If you are ever thinking, my vote doesn’t matter, well, sometimes it really, really does.

A lot of really good candidates in this race. The Globe endorsed candidate won. I went to a house party thing for Koh. I would not have been sad at all if any of the top several candidates had won, and would have fully supported them in the general.

In only marginally related news, if you haven’t watched Capuano’s concession speech, it is possibly the classiest concession speech _ever_.
