A friend is reading _Sisters in Law_, and talked a bit about the court’s rulings on the topic of children born to a Vietnamese mother in Vietnam with an American father. I got to thinking that probably the process has changed a bit, in the wake of genetic paternity testing becoming inexpensive and widely available.

This is a lovely article, and anyone with a Spokane connection might find it additionally interesting for that reason.

Here’s a detailed story of what this can be like from the viewpoint of the American wife of the father of a Vietnamese-American child.

Spoilers! The son, his mother, and his youngest daughter (who suffers from some kind of developmental disorder / delay) have all arrived in the United States, welcomed by their American side family. This is really great, because the youngest daughter had very limited access to any kind of schooling while in Vietnam.
