Well, the laptop worked for a while. Which was nice for the brief period of time it lasted. It continued to charge even after I restored my stuff. Yay! And then it stopped again. Boo. And then R. erased the disk and reinstalled the OS and it continued to Not Charge. This thing is DOA. I did a chat support and after some discussion they schedule a sales support call tomorrow morning; I want to return this. I do not want to spend the first 6 weeks plus of owning this new laptop having it cycle through various levels of “support” and “service”. The whole point of paying the upcharge and putting up with the limitations of Apple is for it to Just Work. And this is Just Not Working.
I took T. to martial arts. He forgot his gi jacket there last week, but they had it waiting for him.
We cooked chicken thighs on the grill, now that the snow is off the deck and we can use it again. Yay! I had a short walk with M. And the other meal was burgers. We are apparently eating all meals in this weekend. Go figure.
I noticed the subscription charge for TripIt Pro go by, so I decided I should try once again to get away from paper for travel documents. I uploaded everything for the upcoming months of travel into TripIt. That was a job (I didn’t put dining reservations in there). I tried to change the return time on a car rental, since the flight that was the constraint moved substantially later in the day; no go. Turns out that if you try to book anything out of that airport in that time frame, it’s _way_ more expensive now than it was when I initially set this up. And you can’t get a minivan from Enterprise there at all. Weird. I called; they said just tell them when I pick it up I want to change the rental return time. I’m thinking this isn’t going to go well, but I have no idea what to do about it at the moment.
