We got to meet my nephew S.'s significant other! Very exciting! He hasn't brought one of those to a big family gathering since high school years if then. A. is a lovely person, who has graduated and has a job. She is pleasant to spend time with and enjoyable to talk to and listen to, even when other people are being mildly overbearing in her general direction. This is a rare and valuable attribute. One never knows if one will see significant others again, but I'd sure love to see her year after year after year.
The turkey was early again, which was fine. The brussel sprouts were excellent. Brunch sort of merged into the main meal, so by 3ish in the afternoon, I was really done and there were two vegan pies to sample.
Of course there is always at least a little drama at T-weekend, but this was well within ordinary bounds. It was nice to see the youngest niece for the first time, and to see the youngest nephew for the first time since he has been walking and talking. They seem to be really sweet kids.
My other nephew is growing up to be a young man (I think he is now actually taller than me and R.). He is generally enjoyable to talk to and be around, altho I have to wonder about his taste in internet humor. Me, I love a good fart joke. And I _love_ punching up. There's a lot of internet humor that isn't either of those, quite a lot of which I just don't get. But some of what I don't get I also find a little worrisome. Hopefully he will continue to mature and find other internet humor that doesn't make me want to go find something else to do.
