Today, the horse was canceled, because of rain in the morning (so muddy, poor footing) and high winds in the afternoon. T. woke me up at shortly after 7 a.m. to tell me that November 25th was not a Saturday and to ask a series of questions based on this misunderstanding. Needless to say, I was not pleased. I had a scream-y morning (not JUST because of this — this was sort of the capper on several days of very much worse than usual).
We did some decluttering. We had planned to get rid of a pressure cooker and one of the crock pots, since we got an Instant Pot. The crock pot was really pretty gross and the black knob on it for settings was broken, so R. went to the hardware store to get a replacement knob, and I got out the bartender’s friend to see if I could make the crock pot look less disgusting before donating it to Savers. We also collected several bags of toys from bins of toys that were aging in the basement, a bag of clothes and a few other odds and ends. R. also collected some elderly electronics to recycle at Best Buy.
T. and I had lunch at Julie’s Place. Mimosa! It was crowded. The first group seated next to us at the counter was very nice; the second group not so nice. Who knows what anyone thought of us; T. did not pause at any point in his sequence of questions.
After lunch, T. and I went to Roche Bros. for groceries. After those were put away, T. and R. went to Savers to donate the many items we had collected. Alas, I had missed including the stuffed snake and the glow in the dark drawing toy that A. knocked off the knob to her closet, and which I asked her if she was ready to get rid of and which she agreed to. Maybe next time!
In the course of going through email (I’ve been doing a lot of this, which does not contribute to being in a good mood, because OMG people keep signing me up for lists and I swear I unsubscribe to literally hundreds of lists a year and yet they are never all gone at the same time), I saw the Black Friday specials ad for StoryLand season passes. Which was a pretty good deal, but when I went to the website, I noticed that the season pass _renewal_ was an even better deal. AND if you have retained your season pass from 2017, you can use it again in 2018 after renewing it AND NOT HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE TO CONVERT YOUR VOUCHER TO A NEW PASS. And you can buy the season digital photo pass online as well, and have it be active when you walk into the park on Memorial Day weekend. NO LINE WAITING. So unbelievably cool. I had been debating skipping doing the passes, and maybe going one less trip per year, just because the line waiting on Memorial Day weekend for activating passes is so fucking insane, but this is way better. If you have kiddos, and you do StoryLand, maybe go do all that stuff right now.
ETA:
Oh, look, the Boston Globe noticed this before I did.
