We have this toy, a Mozart Cube, which has a very large button on each side. One side, "orchestra" will advance between songs. The other sides turn on/off specific instruments (french horn, flute, piano, etc.). Very fun toy -- lots of possible combination. T.'s cousins got it for him and now A. is playing with it. Plenty of older kids and adults have gotten sucked in by it to.

Today, I had the kitty-cat keyboard and was trying to pick out the first tune. A. was playing the violin button version of that tune. After a while, I noticed that she was pausing, looking at me to play the part I had figured out, and then starting it again. Very, very fun. Took a while to figure it out, but I did get it eventually. We did this for probably fifteen minutes or so, which is a long time with a not-quite-one-year-old to engage interactively.

I knew about "eve teasing" because I'd seen footage of it. It is very shocking, perhaps in part because it is so at odds with the general reputation of Indian men in the US.

Attempting to solve the problem by creating women only commuter trains for several major cities seems like a reasonable interim solution. Hopefully, over time, consciousness raising, boys growing up with mothers who work and movies which favorably depict women who work will help mitigate the problem.
