Complaining about tone
May. 15th, 2021 05:22 pmGenerally speaking, when someone is complaining about tone, they would _like_ to complain about content, but they know it would make them look bad.

This is a _perfect_ example of a situation where a bunch of the participants really want to argue with the _content_, but since they are in no position to do so, they instead complain about the delivery or the tone, rather than engage with the content. Which they don’t like.
If this has been signaled in any more detail ahead of time, it would have _undermined_ the actual message — must continue to mask and social distance. You cannot signal this. And when you _do_ make the announcement, all the components need to be aligned. Which means that it will take a little while to get everything to match up.
*sigh*
