Tuesday: walk, piano lesson
Dec. 29th, 2020 01:47 pmI walked with M., and we had an indoor visit.
F., the piano instructor, came over in person after M.’s departure. We have only had zoom lessons with F. since before T-weekend, because the first in person lesson planned post-T-weekend resulted in switching to zoom due to household symptoms on his side. In the event, the entire household got it and has since recovered, so we are back to in person and barring some highly unlikely event, I am assuming that opportunity for entering out little pod here to now be closed. (Yes, I know there are documented instances of re-infection, however, they are extremely rare. Yes, I know there is long covid, however, that appears to not generate infectious risk for anyone else.)
A. is watching We Could Be Heroes, the new Robert Rodriguez kid-superhero movie for the third time. Apparently, this one is a winner.
Last night’s book group discussion of Walter Tevis’ _The Queen’s Gambit_ was excellent. I have learned a bit more about how the Netflix adaptation diverged (and why — there was a good Fresh Air interview with Scott Frank about it https://www.npr.org/2020/12/28/950010157/queens-gambit-co-creator-scott-frank-wanted-to-explore-the-cost-of-genius, that also gets into some things about movie-going habits over the decades that J. and I have been talking about towards the end). R. joined in! That was really cool. We are going to attempt Wild Swans by Jung Chang next month, altho we are only committing to reading the first section.
