A. had her ice cream social at school. She got a cake at the cake walk, which she was very excited about. As is typical for her, she was then somewhat disappointed in the flavor of the cake. At some point, she is going to figure out that control over what one gets is way more important than the excitement of free and/or winning. We all live and learn.

R. put the cork board up, and I spent an hour give or take pushing Disney and Universal pins onto it. That was weirdly fun. A. was very excited about the result.

R. and I went to lunch at Battle Road.

I had an eye appointment. I keep thinking I need to tell them no more with the dilation. USPSTF does not have a recommendation and it just seems ridiculous to do this every couple years when there is never any change. Also, they are pushing a Wellness test with an OCT machine and some other stuff. Again, looking for trouble, when the only likely recommendation would be Take These Vitamins / Eat Your Colorful Vegetables and Leafy Greens. Why do I lose 4 hours of my day to a dark room every couple of years? And the new eye doctor (old one retired) thinks a checkup should be every year. Uh, no. My prescription hasn’t changed in forever.

Via Lago is closed for renovations. T. and the sitter went to Papa Razzi instead. Since they were a bit late, and since R. took A. to the ice cream social, I went for a second walk (I walked with M. earlier) and then walked down to Julie’s and had a couple drinks at the bar. Hilarious discussion among some of the people who’ve been in the area a long time about previous bars that are long gone (one used to be where Dunkin is now, and they were also talking about Chantilly, formerly on 2A where the Tire Barn is now? I think I’ve heard Chantilly stories before).
