The only one of his that really put me off was Uncle Tungsten, which I was expecting to be all charming light memoir. In fact he had some pretty grim stories in there. (I might try reading it again, with my mind set for that kind of thing.) But most of his work I find compulsively readable. I bet you would like Hallucinations.
