I got up, assembled a veg and fruit platter for the Friendsgiving at A.’s school (which would come back largely unmolested, other than the crackers which disappeared except for part of one). That’s fine; I’m perfectly happy turning the contents into mirepoix and fruit desserts and I had some in a salad for dinner. Her lunch came back completely uneaten as well, so apparently what was eaten off the platter was probably mostly by A. She also ate a bunch of desserts. Good for her — solid potluck strategy.

R. took her to and from school and delivered and retrieved the platter, so the important items came back altho apparently the tongs and spoon are in the dishwasher there. I have my doubts about whether they will survive that; they are disposable serviceware. OTOH, they are disposable servicewear and thus somewhat reusable but 100% I don’t care that much.

I drove out to Florence, took a look at the stair (the basement to first floor part) and decided it was actually probably worth all the drama. I really like it. It looked great in the photos R. brought back and even better in person which is saying a lot. Also, it was a lot of drama, so it’s somewhat astonishing that I think it was worth it.

I caught the tale end of yet another discussion about the fascia, the hangar for the gutters, etc. This will end eventually — I mean, the stair is being installed and look how long that went on — but we’re now back to But What About Copper Hangars. I’m like, go for it, but remember the rest of that roof is ferrous metal so don’t make it a battery. Roofer seems to think that is solvable, which is interesting, because the architect just assumed it wasn’t so I’m actually looking forward to the next episode of this arc.

The acoustician (and I probably spelled that wrong) showed up, and he was a delight. We’re going to be looking into acoustic plaster for the pool room, living room 1 and the main stair stack. I think it’s this stuff, which means colors! When I learned colors weren’t an option in the regular plaster (which may or may not have been a correct conclusion, but I just didn’t care enough), I was like, just use drywall; it’s easier to hire people to do it. But if we can get people who know how to do this, it might help a lot with reverb.

We’re still puzzling over dealing with the ceiling penetrations of sprinkler heads, especially in bedroom 3 which is under the music room. Great discussion; I learned a ton.
