I walked with M.

I did a loop by myself.

We opened a bottle of Mount Veeder 2017 last night because we have a bunch of it and it is 2024 so really, needs to happen. It was extremely tasty.

I had a delightful phone call with K.

I had a delightful FF zoom.

The summer news cycle has returned to pre-pandemic norms of Absolute Garbage Being Published and Discussed as If It Were Serious. It’s not serious. Go out there and have some summer fun and come back after Labor Day and we’ll figure it all out then.

In Construction World, we went to Concord Lumber Building and Design Center and looked at Simpson doors, which the architect wants to use for interior doors (of which there are many). They are Very Nice Doors, as he asserted, so I’m not arguing with him about that. We looked through the catalog and picked a style that we liked a whole lot better than the 5 panel Shaker he picked out. And I poked at the pricing calculator, and after the initial, no, really, that much money? I decided that if it was going to be expensive anyway, what was the price for quarter sawn oak vs. the Cherry the architect is going for. The quarter sawn oak is less. Ha. So, guess what I’m doing to Even More Interior Design Choices. R. does not care. I’m so pissed off at this point about the tiny number of things I’ve asked for getting jettisoned and people not even noticing, that I’m 100% prepared to start just deciding everything to be the way I want it.

Also! I continue to research flooring options. I’ll be posting separately about that, because that got hilarious fast.

Simpson Doors rings a faint bell, and they're a Washington company, it seems. I think the interior doors we got during the remodel might be Simpson. I know they were one of the things that struck me as terribly expensive, but they are also one of the things I am really glad we spent a little extra money on.
