I walked with M.

I walked over to pick up A. at school.

R., A. and I had dinner at 110 Grill in Maynard. There was a big group of women, including one late arrival with a little baby. They were loud, and having a lot of fun, but it was hard for us to chat, which was a little discouraging. However, I became captivated by the loud story one of the women was telling about her IVF experience. She had some real tragedy in her early life, and then obviously difficulties with building her family, but she had a fantastic sense of humor and told the story at a great pace, with funny little side comments and I was absolutely riveted. After we’d paid, I walked over, leaned towards her and said, I don’t mean to be rude, but I overheard your story and you are wonderful in every way. She was super sweet and everyone else at the table noticed and so I expanded my compliment to include them — because it was _such_ a lovely group of women — and then _they_ were all sweet and one of them gave me a hug and then we all skedaddled out of there. I hope they all go on to live their very best lives, and I’m pretty sure they will.

It was like one of those moments where you do a toast and it goes over way better than you expected, only in this case, none of the weird anticipation of doing the toast, just the surprise of all the positive attention and then it’s blessedly over and your day is normal again. So nice!

A. and I watched the rest of the Cuisinart DVD and after dinner we made brownies. We used the food processor, but R.’s recipe from my online cookbook. It was super fast and easy and I’m glad I did it that way. Also, the brownies were yummy.

Earlier today, I purged bookshelves on the 3rd floor, so I now have 5 grocery bags of books to donate, along with the various other items that have been making their way to the donate pile. I’m trying to clear out a lot of the stuff on the 3rd floor that just sits there and honestly is never going to be read again because I’ll just get it on kindle (obviously, not _always_ a possibility).

Also! A. asked for a clipboard, and I knew _right_ where one was in the eat-in kitchen shelving unit. Woot!
