Friday was busy
Apr. 4th, 2025 11:00 pmI took A. to school for her first and only class today, then we had lunch at Jersey Mike’s. While she was in her class, I drove over to Burlington Public Library. So far, this is the nicest library I’ve been in in the area. It has Comfy Chairs. It is genuinely quiet. The also have multiple book groups, including one that meets at noon on a Friday that is a cookbook book group where you bring something you made from the cookbook. I am extremely tempted. No line for the bathroom.
After Jersey Mike’s, we went to Cary Library in Lexington. It is under construction and a little noisy, and it was tricky getting to the bathroom, partly because A. waited a bit late. After the library, we walked over to the Lexington Visitor Center, where A. met her school field trip. They did stuff for a couple hours while I sat in a chair outside (cloudy day, initially at least, cool with a breeze) and chatted on the phone with K. Towards the end, the clouds dissipated, and I probably got a bit too much sun.
After A.’s return, we found the visitor center bathroom and then bought some candy in the gift shop and headed home.
By the time I got home, I was fully cranky, For Reasons (I will almost certainly blog about this), so R. and I went to dinner at 80 Thoreau. Their menu is now just a long list of items with no starters / entrees / sides / small / large / etc. designation. Think, expensive tapas that isn’t at all tapas. It was great. The mushroom risotta was super cute and yummy, but the fish sticks were probably the biggest surprise. Fish sticks! And so tasty!
Anyway. After dinner, I did FF, which apparently had its five year anniversary this week. Woot? It was a nice conversation.
Also, day 2 of a very substantial selloff in the markets, so there’s that.
Oh, and I finished reading Diviner’s Bow, the latest Liaden universe novel. Tekelia continues in being the Most Awesome NB poly character I have (thus far) encountered.
