Obviously, differences around spring break are huge between A.’s current school and the local public school district. Today, a major intersection in town was closed and there are detours rerouting around it, and on the way home I wound up driving down Charter Rd and noticing that all the public schools are closed for Eid. Good for them.

Anyway, today was the first day of R. not getting up at all in the morning, but instead will be picking her up at the end of the day. We could have been doing this all along, except for Tuesdays when I go out to Florence, Wednesdays when we have therapy, and Thursday when there is a piano lesson. You can sort of see why we haven’t been doing it that way. But R. is going to do pick up and drop off tomorrow, and he can always take her to therapy, and piano teacher has moved / is in the process of moving and it’s super unclear when we’ll be having piano lessons going forward.

Conveniently, her schedule is much lighter now as well, and will soon not have school on Fridays, and T/Th start will be lunch. For that matter, fairly soon her M/W will start at 11:30. All of that would be producing conflict with R.’s noon bridge, so switching now makes a ton of sense. Part of this deal is, he has to cover any needs that arise after 11:30 or so, because I do need to actually get some sleep. Seriously.

I cleaned off my boots, which had gotten extremely muddy during the last month. They do clean up nicely. The synthetic upper is extremely waterproof, which means I can brush most of the mud off and then rinse the rest and dry it, and that’s it. Very, very, easy.

Today is book group, and it’s Wisteria Society, and I’ve gotten about a quarter of the way into it and it is hard to force myself to read more. I’ve laughed out loud several times, so it IS funny, I can confirm that. But I just do not actually give the tiniest fuck about anything that is happening in this book or the people who it is happening to, which mystifies me completely. I don’t hate anyone. I don’t even hate the book. This is such a strange reading experience. Alas, it doesn’t put me to sleep — that would have been very cool. I just put it down and then can’t make myself pick it back up again.

ETA: I got 2/3rds of the way through, and book group was interesting. Tomorrow A. only has one class and I’m off to talk design with the metal artist in Florence. Should be fun.
