Wednesday started a little rough
Mar. 12th, 2025 11:31 amYesterday in the shower I made the mistake of trying to get the bump on my face to drain and it really persistently wouldn’t so then it swelled up. Ugh. Last night it finally opened up and drained. Double ugh, on my pillow. But it’s much better now, especially after putting a compress on it last night and this morning.
A. had a lot of trouble getting up and moving (to be fair, so did I). R. got her delivered to school at :25, but she didn’t leave the car for another 6 minutes because she’s apparently got a lot of questions (I owe her an explanation of the budget process and government shutdowns and similar that she brought up late last night but I didn’t want to start that at 11:30 at night) about evaluating and navigating risk while driving on the highway. R. had no idea how to answer that, but at least he told me, and I had a ton of ideas. T. (Not Son) and N. have both recently learned to drive, and A. likes both of them (as friends — they are men and she’s not interested in men) and T. is a capable tutor of his friends so I’m optimistic that one or both of them can help her out. R. is worried about how they might cope with her emotions, but that is the least of my concerns. I actually think they’ll be really good at navigating someone’s clearly articulated emotions (young people today are amazing!) and they both share her slow processor trait and thus there’s a good chance they’ll vibe well.
The therapist canceled due to a cold, which worked out great because this week is busy enough that I was tempted to cancel but I try to prioritize this weekly appointment because I really think it’s helping us all a lot.
Today, I’m making blondies and then hopefully granola, because we are out of the former and almost out of the latter.
Fingers crossed I get out to the book bin to donate some books.
Next project with construction: picking out trim. We were sort of expecting some suggestions from the architect but none have been forthcoming, so I’m going to work on that today. The windows are quite deep, and we need to figure out how we want that trimmed out.
