The delightful C. and his girlfriend P. came over to collect a couple sleeping bags for sure and anything else camping adjacent that we wanted to get rid of. They took the thermarest mattresses that I found in the side attic, several tents, more thermarest, all the sleeping bags, the camping cookware. Just everything. Wow. All in one go, took less than 15 minutes from arrival to departure. R. and I spent about the same amount of time in the basement going through bins and prepping for this. Easy, peasy. Such a delight to connect the old gear with young folks that want to use it.

Everything about this round of decluttering has been so insanely awesome. It just makes me happy.

While C. and P. were exiting, the zon delivery of the new Echo Show 21 was arriving. Because decluttering must always be accompanied by recluttering. Since this particular project started around Jan 20 with the departure of the DAKboard, this feels like a bookend. Most of what I have planned to get list on FB Marketplace next is comparatively small. There are still a few items waiting to be picked up.

JB called from the builder, and said that the artistic metal working shop she’s been trying to wheedle into doing work for us has decided he will. I have to say I am more than a little surprised, altho it’s possible that building work in the area has softened up enough that this project is fitting into his schedule better. It’s also possible that he talked to someone and someone managed to convey to him what an unhinged, free spending idiot I am and so he’s decided to jump into the madness with us. If so, thank you to whoever that might have been.

ETA:

I picked A. up and we went to Appleseed’s again. I had Asian Chao last time; today I tried K-Style and got the Dumpling Bop. It was really good. I noticed there is a Box Lunch, so we bought A. a Loungefly, and we each got a cardigan and some other stuff. Fun!

R. put the new Echo Show up in portrait mode, because we didn’t have to move anything on the wall that way. We’ll see what we think of it, and adjust it to landscape if we decide that’s better. Right now, it seems fine. I have reduced a lot of what was on the magnet board, in case we need to remove that.

Everything that I listed on FB is now out of the house, except for the portal plus — the person who claimed it has ghosted me, so I’m going to give it until Wednesday and then put it back up as available. I need to do another walkaround, and I already have a handful of things (nothing big, and nothing really crucial to the prep for construction project) that I want to list.

Chainsaws

I was thinking about Al Dunlap today, aka “Chainsaw Al”, and then did a little googling and found this.

Dunlap, of course, was operating in the private sector, not the public sector, and was a notorious fraud.

What a weird world we live in.
