Thursday bids Art Projects goodbye
Jan. 30th, 2025 12:13 pmI posted some lego finally, and the Art Projects (one open one closed) have already been picked up. Woot! More lego will be picked up later this afternoon. I’ve also been breaking down monitor boxes, and sorting through boxes of ancient school paperwork (mostly but not entirely pre-pandemic, back when the paper tsunami was still full force). It’s a tiring task removing all the worksheets in search of the occasional poem or drawing or whatever that seems worth keeping, but it feels wrong not to do it. Also, I think that at the time I just decanted into the box or a pile that went into the box, because it’s a combination of both kids, and I want it separated for memory boxes.
Attic room is looking much more empty, and I’m getting one of the tables in the basement mostly cleared off to go out on Saturday. I had hoped to get the furniture out to HG this morning, but that was overly optimistic.
ETA:
It’s been a little weird listing the lego. I’m doing them in lots of 5 +/-, thematic (so like the architecture studio is 2 together, nothing else, and there’s a bunch of Disney lego and so forth). And it’s all men replying, virtually as soon as the listing goes live, and there is some skepticism / double checking to make sure they are truly free (one person offered money, I’m like, no, that’s not what I’m doing here).
I knew that was likely to happen, because there’s a vibrant resale market in lego and a lot of these are unopened kits. I’m hoping to mostly get parents who want them for their own kids, but I honestly don’t care as long as people show up, pick them up, and I have less stuff to move around getting ready for construction.
ETAYA:
T. called to say he had a zoom cooking lesson with his uncle J. His other uncle was visiting J. They were having tacos, and taught T. how to make tacos. Next lesson will apparently be grilled chicken, so Uncle J.’s curriculum is really excellent. T. is going to go to a kitchen store and buy a better knife and a plastic cutting board. These are good choices. I am so happy this is all happening.
Meanwhile, in my absolute circus of posting stuff on FB Marketplace, one of the many people who have stopped by and left with a bag of lego has offered that he is trying to get a lego club going, and will take anything I have. He’s totally fine with not fully disassembled stuff, even. So three plastic bins full of winter holiday lego and lunar near year lego and assorted other stuff will be heading out with him in about a half hour.
ETA still more:
Lots of lego just left the house. Wow. Just, wow. So weird. Good weird, tho!
Tomorrow the weird keyboard should be heading out, and on Friday, the inflatable boat and a vest, and also the bin of potato heads will be heading out. I will need to take another look for stuff to list, because I think everything that I’ve listed is already scheduled for pickup.
