Sunday suspiciously warm for a storm day
Jan. 19th, 2025 11:16 amIn theory, there will be a storm later. There was a dense fog warning earlier. I apparently miss the fog or it missed me. And it is almost 40 degrees out there. I’m not saying the forecast is wrong, just that this is some cognitive dissonance. Also, there was still black ice on Lothrop in the shade. I walked with M. in the morning, because of the forecast.
I have exciting plans today! No, that is a complete lie and/or sarcasm. I do not have exciting plans today. I don’t plan exciting things when weather is a severe risk. I plan to vacuum the green bathroom (with the Eufy) and launder towels. Maybe read a couple books. Book group is tomorrow, so I need to get through or DNF Your Table Is Ready and it’s actually pretty good so I am trying to read it, but the Michelle Diener is so compelling there’s some internal conflict.
Speaking of popcorn, I made some last night for A. and it was really good. Perhaps I will get back in the habit of making her popcorn. Or making me popcorn.
The squash pie I made yesterday was delightful. My crusts are still somewhat iffy (altho the flavor is better with the butter, using fresh ground hard red whole wheat just isn’t a great choice for flakiness. Altho great flavor and holds together well, and isn’t tough at all).
I read more summaries on Headway, and after reading a few for Books I Will Never Read, and one for Cait Flanagan’s The Year of Less (which I was almost tempted to read after reading the summary), I read the summary for Gretchen Bakke’s The Grid. I was like, hunh, I should get the sample for that, only to realize when I got to the Zon that I already owned it. D’oh. Maybe I should read it.
Speaking of the Zon, a super odd word showed up in the AI summary at the top of the reviews for All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker (not recommending! Friend recommended it, I looked it over and concluded it was definitely not for me). Here’s the AI summary that caught my attention:
“Customers praise the story for its well-crafted and captivating storytelling. They find the plot twists and turns gripping and heartbreaking. The characters are praised as relatable and falling into place quickly. Many customers describe the relationship development as advying love and friendship that grabs you by the throat. However, some feel the book is too long, with short chapters making them crazy.”
Is that adyving word there a “fake street”? Is something else going on?
ETA:
It’s quite difficult to convince search engines to look for this word. I had to put this single word in quotes to get it to search for it at all. Then, it’s mostly OCRos.
