I got up not very much before noon. I woke A. up, sort of, but didn’t really push at her until after noon. My bad, will regret I feel sure.

I walked with M. I walked to the bank and back, because I had a twenty and three ones in my wallet and the decorated wreath that I signed up for and paid for from the nice young man was $23. Exactly. Universe says, Hey, Walkitout, Walk It Over to the Bank Soonish, OK? So I did. I also walked around the block. It was nice.

I had conversations with A. and with R. I’m kinda thinking through a bunch of things, like how people relate to rules and what their motivations are. I’m really hung up on a few things that I don’t understand. Like, I don’t get why someone would work a system of rules to rip someone off. I am absolutely here for manipulating rules to accomplish ones goals / get one’s needs met / find one’s joy. I’m always horrified by people who find joy in trying to find clever ways to take advantage of someone openly, within a system of rules. I realize, as a longtime fan of Matt Levine, this might sound a little weird. I might be a fan mostly because he absolutely wouldn’t do it, but he admires the cleverness and chutzpah, which is probably the best opportunity I will have in this life or any other to make sense of the behavior. My main issue revolves around the inevitable relationship / reputation damage (which, to be fair, Levine generally explicitly recognizes and factors in to his analysis). A. had some questions about what is a tariff, which naturally leads to discussion of things like protected industries, the impact of protecting an industry from some or all competition, etc.

I meant to do a lot of things today, and didn’t get around to any of them, and I’m really fine with that.
