Sunday: taxes, granola
Oct. 6th, 2024 08:48 pmI worked on taxes today. I hadn’t entered the payment I made with extension, which addressed one of the concerns. But I did still have K-1s to deal with.
I made granola, because R. went to costco and bought unsalted cashews. I used some salted cashews and some unsalted.
I had soup for lunch. It’s so nice having chicken stock in the fridge. I had a nice long zoom with I. T. came over. He apparently did some damage to the car, so he took the train and his bike. Things seem to be going fine for him, and he’s made an appointment to bring the car in to be fixed, which is a degree of adulting that I don’t know that I was capable of at a comparable age. Altho it’s not a fair comparison in a lot of ways, because I was trying to scrape the money together for college and he doesn’t have to actually come up with the money for any of this. Also, it turns out if you give a kid a credit card and they assume they are monitoring what you use it for, they will just wind up being really good about taking care of their business, because they know they can afford it (use the credit card) and they aren’t all that tempted to engage in shenanigans (because monitoring). It’s so weird. Probably doesn’t work with every kid.
ETA:
I pre-ordered a bird.
ETAYA:
TIL the difference between oxfords (the parts that lace are sewn into the vamp) and derbys (they aren’t). Of course, here, we make things extra complicated by calling them “oxford derbys”. But at least now I know what to look for when shopping for men’s (style) lace up dress shoes. Before, I knew that some just could not be made to work, and some had plenty of space. Pity it took me so many years to understand.
I don’t feel _too_ bad. R. didn’t know either.
