Tuesday: electrician’s first appointment
Jun. 25th, 2024 12:04 pmI was supposed to have an afternoon appointment, but Papalia called and said the first appointment was open and did I want it. I never want it when I have to get up in the morning, but it’s soooooo nice not wondering when the electrician is going to show up because of delays earlier in the day.
The alabaster bowl pendant from the condo is finally out of the box and up over the table in the eat-in kitchen! I am so excited, however, I didn’t really do a ton of planning on this, so it currently has a not-smart paddle switch. The electrician wired the box for a fan, so when we move and take this with us, we can put a fan in instead. Or whoever buys the place can decide what they want to do. I reused the not-smart LED bulbs I pulled out of the upstairs bedside lamp when I put the Amazon smart tunable whites in. R. found a third A19E26 LED somewhere and put that in.
It’s great! I’m super happy. The smart switch arrives tomorrow, and I may just leave those three bulbs in there unless I decide for some reason I want something different, like, say, if I want to try out the Amazon not smart dimmable whites.

I put together a proposal for what to use for acoustics and light in the pool room. I found a biiiiig Meyda Cypola bowl with an “Idalight” (I think this is just acrylic) bowl, so the whole thing is quite light (10 pounds) (also har de har har). I’m proposing a half dozen of those, and an unholy amount of WhisperWave as a ceiling cloud. It is kind of a shocking amount of money, and I have so many questions like, what happens if the sprinkler system deploys (nothing good with those acrylic bowls — maybe I should have a drain hole put in them?; the WhisperWave is melamine foam, which does not seem to be water soluble, so, maybe it’s okay?), and what if we need to repair or replace a light (probably Little Giant’s Revolution ladder is the right solution here? But maybe just hire someone with scaffolding).
I now know about so many acoustical products that I have more ideas for the main entry.
