Friday: delivery day
Jun. 21st, 2024 11:00 pmI apparently used the “deliver on my delivery day” option on a bunch of stuff from the Zon today.
I got some stair treads (Bungalow Waterhog). We are waiting for them to uncurl. We’ll be trying them on the unfinished wooden stairs from the kitchen to the basement. These are a potential alternative to a stair runner in the new house. I’m unconvinced they are “nice enough” however, they are pretty nice!
I ordered a 3 in 1 charger stand in lilac. I _have_ a 3 in 1 travel charger (in purple), and I was using it temporarily as I rearranged a bunch of charging crap in my bedroom, installed some “smart bulbs”, removed a “smart strip”, etc. The goal, as always, is to reduce the volume of equipment and cords, because cords are a mess and organizing the cords only takes you so far. At first, I was worried I’d screwed up horribly, because the circular base has an LED light the whole way ‘round, and I was like, oh, hell no. But it is switched! Which is awesome! I also got a Magsafe phone case (purple), because the 3 in 1 needs either a bare phone or a case that is Magsafe. My Ahsoka Tano and previous Otterbox were NOT Magsafe, altho you could charge through either of them they wouldn’t hold a phone upright because the magnet through the case was not strong enough. Phone case is beautiful. Charger works great. I am super happy. Fewer cords and freed up space on the surface.
Also, because I’d moved an Anker Cube over to where the “smart strip” had been, I’ve moved my iPad charger from by the jewelry armoire or wtf you call those things to the Cube. Not very far, but when the strip was tucked under the dresser, it didn’t reach to my chair well. So I got an Anker wall block back, and will probably move that back to the travel case I stole it from.
I ordered A. a hanging jewelry case, which has space for _tons_ of necklaces to be stored untangled. It has a hanger-style hook at the top so she can either hang it on the wall or over the door or whatever seems best. I’m super excited about this acquisition for her. It is even a dusty pink! I can move some of the necklaces she’d had in my jewelry case back to her room; she had forgotten they existed so I wore one the other day and got compliments on it, and she liked it so I gave it back to her which prompted this purchase.
I also ordered some “Utopia Kitchen” flour sack kitchen towels. They have hooks. The tag rips off extremely easily. I anticipate these being really nice and replacing the really trashed ones from Target 10 years ago that I have been resentfully not replacing because R. gave me crap about coming home with a bunch of new stuff from Target. Now that I better understand the balance of stress-from-looking-at-crap-you-can-afford-to-replace-but-don’t and the stress-of-new-things-arriving-in-the-house, I’m much more prepared to throw down in favor of We Are Fucking Replacing This Stuff Or You Are Getting Help Because This Is Intolerable For Me and I Matter Too. Obviously, I should have done this years ago. He doesn’t even remember the inciting incident. There are so many lessons here.
Of everything on the list, the Waterhog stair treads were the most expensive, and they weren’t particularly expensive (I got one set of four treads, so it was $70 plus tax). And it’s all making me so happy, which is nice, because I spend astonishing amounts of money on other things that are not bringing me joy-in-the-moment (they will bring me decades of joy to come! But still) and it’s nice to have some small things Right Now that make things more comfortable Immediately. Retail therapy at its finest.
I walked with M. in the morning! It has cooled down some.
FF was fun, but I had a massive headache on and off throughout the day that resistant to everything and which was either one of my hormonal headaches or related to the thunderstorms or, most likely, an unpleasant mashup of both.
ETA: I had a delightful phone call with K.
