I walked with R.

I got A. through her homework (world history, cold war, learned a bunch, so, yay).

I’ve been thinking about wall washing lights and trying to figure out how I feel about that. Mostly, not good? But I also want to have some kind of option for more light for the picture wall in the hall between the dining room and the kitchen. We’re also talking through colors, since I’m reasonably certain the architect is assuming all the walls that are not wood are white and absolutely that is not how I roll. I’m also starting to think about window treatments, since again, he’s probably thinking exclusively in terms of blinds and while blinds are nice, again, that’s not all that is happening here; I want some fabric as well.

I reset my old iPad and handed it over to R.

I did some filing. I was not kidding when I said I did very little.

I had a really nice, long conversation with A. We had missed a couple, so it was nice to catch up. Mostly she listened to me blather, which was super kind of her.

Also! I read Melissa Serrao’s _Between Mischief and Magic_, which hits my definition of cozy fantasy. And sapphic! Rei Deimos, half succubus (mom) and half satyr (dad) is kicked out of the house she hasn’t been paying rent on for the last couple of years so her brother’s partner can move in with him. At The Roaming Inn, she meets Princess Amora, who is not magical at all, and who is trying to find the magic that was taken from her. That’s not a lot to go on, and Rei is pretty chaotic (the demon thing . . . ) but Rei has made a bunch of friends over the years so they go in search of people who might have helpful information. They pick up a magic-evolved cat named Vern, and Rei’s former school advisor, who is kinda demented, along with a variety of other people who help the Princess accomplish all her goals, with Rei’s considerable assistance. Everyone is delightful. The Coven of the Deep has some freaking awesome magic (love that library-copy). The ending is satisfying (especially what happens to the evil advisor). I got this on kindleunlimited, and I don’t even remember what prompted me to try it, but I’m grateful to whatever put it on my path and my impulse to give it a try. It was exactly the kind of low-stakes, satisfying romp that I was looking for.
