Thursday: only drove to Fusion once today
May. 9th, 2024 09:31 pmR. did the pickup in the afternoon. Woot!
A. had an English homework assignment that she did not complete. We had talked about this yesterday because she’d already tried to do it, talked to T. about it in study skills, worked on it in class with the teacher and _still wasn’t done_. I was like, okay, you’re doing great, I’m really proud of you and we are getting this thing done and turned in right now. She was very surprised she was not in trouble. I’m like, it’s been almost a month and this is the first Not Completed Assignment. It took like 5 minutes. As we were doing it, she remembered the conversation. So, yay. It’s turned in.
Earlier in the day, I got email from the school. The Spanish teacher, as A. had told me would happen, said she should be in Spanish 2 instead. So we had a contract modification for that. I was initially a little confused, because I couldn’t tell if Spanish 2 was second year or second semester. It was second _year_. This was apparently treated as more or less a placement error? So credited for switching, slight additional charge and she’s now in Spanish 2 Semester 1, with Semester 2 following on continuously over the summer. Which means, as near as I can tell, she’ll have her 2 years of high school world language completed by mid August? What? All right then. This is what inconsistently but persistently trying to learn Spanish on your own for years and then taking high school Spanish gets you.
I also signed the contract for summer, so payments will probably happen tomorrow.
My sister has a new phone, and I took advantage of this transition to switch her from being logged into my appleid for purchasing to being on family sharing. Woot!
A. decided she wants to do the Fusion “prom”, because there’s some kind of a VR thing as part of the activities. So I’m trying to get her to do the google form signup for it. Also, there’s a Lord Hobo super close to it, so I’m pretty sure that’s what we will be doing while she’s having fun. That is a conflict with piano lessons, so I got that rescheduled.
It’s been a bizarrely productive day, almost completely by accident. I’ll take it, tho!
The shorty pjs I ordered arrived, and they fit me, so they should work for A., and she thinks they are cute so fingers crossed.
I walked with M. I had a long phone convo with J. (rescheduled from yesterday). I keep bugging him to sign up for social security, and he keeps delaying. He has attained the, “but I read an article”, which I’ve been expecting for months but he hadn’t gotten that far yet.
I had a long phone call with C. (3rd floor) from the condo, about the elevator related assessment that will be voted on in June. I probably should talk to C. (4th floor) to get his perspective on things. I feel like the whole thing is a little weird, because we’ve clearly got terrible elevator maintenance going on, and no bid, but a huge hurry to replace the elevator and I’m unconvinced that’s a great choice. I don’t really care about the assessment, but I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a hardship for several people in the building, and I don’t much care for bad decision making. I’d rather they just raised the dues, altho they are apparently planning on doing that. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with a big assessment AND a big increase in dues, especially if that results in multiple units being put on the market.
