Friday: What the Hell Keurig
Apr. 26th, 2024 10:28 amThere was a damp spot in the carpet, not close enough to the minifridge for me to believe it was that. That was somewhat inexplicable until I tried to use the Keurig this morning. Then I found out. I think there’s a missing piece; it’s basically a Dribble Keurig. I did eventually convince it to produce a couple full cups of hot water for tea. But it _really_ isn’t working properly; the water that dribbled out was not colored at all, even when I put the English Breakfast cup into the slot. I gave up and just used my own tea bag and basically used the Keurig to heat water. I really wish I’d brought the Jettle; this is exactly _why I own it_. OTOH, my sister said she’s bringing an electric tea kettle so it’ll be fine for the next few days. In theory, there is room service, but I had a jar of peanut butter and bananas (see previous post) and oranges. I had peanut butter on bananas and followed it up with an orange along with my tea. Perfectly acceptable breakfast.
I’ll post more later, probably; registration opens at 1. In line with the, I’m not sure if this is really happening or not, I didn’t buy early tickets so I gotta go do that, and then art show opens at 3 and panels start at 4. I see my sister will be here in a bit so maybe we’ll all go have lunch, register and do the art show.
ETA: The art show was only partially set up, but there was some cute stuff.
We went to O’Charley’s for lunch, a restaurant chain I was unfamiliar with. Service was friendly. I had a salad, which wasn’t great, but was fine. A. didn’t love her fried chicken sandwich, but it was good enough to eat and be satisfied. It was nice to hang out with my sister and her kids.
I attended a panel with Ursula Vernon and others (yay! Goal accomplished!) about comedy in science fiction, fantasy, etc., and realized in the course of this that a con is a great place to think about and talk about reuse in writing. Also, menopausal superheroines series!
