We got up and had breakfast. It was good! Not a buffet anymore. They bring out a selection of breakfast items in a roasting pan. Sort of brunch in a box. The french toast sticks and toast are safe for me and nothing is pre-buttered. Lovely! You can get extras of whatever, but we did not.
We were a bit late getting into the park and then S. had to go back and get different shoes for C. We did the carousel and the factory ride, which was fun.
We tried to go down to the castle to do the build while a few of us did the Dragon coaster (C. did not want to do the Dragon ever again) but they have repurposed that space to some other activity. We then attempted the City build, but it was outdoors in bright sunshine. Yikes. A. wasn’t super happy to be with all the crowds anyway, and it was _hot_ — 80 in the sun and close to that in general. We finally gave up and went back to the hotel, but S. and the kids stayed in until dinner. I read _Good Night, Irene_, by Luis Alberto Urrea, which was sad and at times horrifying but really good in general. It’s the book club choice for this month and I am very much looking forward to that discussion on Monday unless it is delayed.
Dinner was good, and the kids played in the arcade briefly and I bought them stuff in the gift shop because the arcade is inevitably a disappointment. Then there were lego movies in the hotel room. Awesome.
