I cleaned! I mean, I vacuumed and generally picked up around the downstairs, did a little dusting that type of thing. Swapped the tablecloth. We had a beef chuck eye roast, which I started by searing in a pan after putting black pepper, cinnamon and cayenne on it. R. can’t have allium, and often we don’t do much but I felt, why not, live a little, these are all things that taste great on beef. I roasted it in the countertop oven with some chopped fennel and mushrooms, and the cinnamon definitely got picked up in the crispy veggie bits. Less fat came off that roast than I expected, but it came out beautifully juicy and pink pretty evenly.

We had it with brussel sprouts, a spinach/arugula/radish salad and more mushrooms. I meant to cook some bok choy but then never got around to it. Oh well! It was yummy. A. was up doing her portal playdate, but came down later to have some chicken, but before that happened, niece, A. and I drove over to T.’s workplace to see him in action. He was taking tickets and it was between shows so we were not being disruptive, and T. had repeatedly told me to invite niece to come over so we did. Fun! Oh, and after dinner but before outing we remember family zoom about 20 minutes late, which is fine.

It was a pleasant day and the house is marginally cleaner now.

I added the Greek course in Duo, and started in on it. It’s easier “learning” the greek alphabet the second time you “learn” the greek alphabet. Maybe by about round four or so it’ll just be automatic and I won’t have to think about it.
